Jerusalem, Israel - June 29, 2017 - The 9th annual Jerusalem Light Festival in the Old City opened on Wednesday night in Jerusalem, Israel. Free programs and maps are available at Jaffa Gate, in Hebrew and English, the event has no charge for entry. It takes a minimum of three hours to follow the orange arrows through the entire route.

Going on the first night, and early, before dark, not all the light works were in place. Many of the 39 light attractions, plus many Old City scenes are included in the photo essay. Jaffa Gate, Zion Gate, and New Gate, plus Damascus Gate were on the trail this year. Last stop at 'Interactive shadows" in Zedekiah Caves was worth the trek, but hard to explain in photographs, as the scene changed with viewers movements.

The Hurva Square attractions were highlights this year. "Solaris" by Polish company, Visualsupport, was well done. See this five minute video:

The festival is scheduled 8:00 - 11:00 pm each week night, except Friday, and 9:00 pm after Shabbos, until July 6, or 12th of Tammuz. Disappointing, some of the light installations are over represented in publicity photos.
