The Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference was held in the Jerusalem Waldorf Astoria ballroom on Wednesday. World diplomats, journalists and invited guests were welcomed by Steve Linde, Jerusalem Post editor.

Opposition Leader Isaac Herzog was the first speaker, followed by Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz, who introduced a panel discussion on Israel's natural gas issues.

French Ambassador Patrick Maisonnave, joined Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Steve Linde on stage as the conference stood for a moment of silence in memory of French terror victims.

Herb Kenion, the Jerusalem Post diplomatic reporter interviewed the Israeli Prime Minister after the French Ambassador spoke of this support of Israel.

Israeli Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, was also a morning speaker.

After a buffet lunch, US Ambassador Daniel B.Shapiro began his remarks with "the attack against France, was also an attack against free world." Shapiro listed three things the US is planning. The  US intends to defeat ISIL/Daish, intensify efforts in Syria, and support friends in the  region so the situation in Syria does not spread.

Ambassador Shapiro stressed the US and Israel share democratic values, though there were differences about how to limit Iran's nuclear abilities. Rather than dwell on disagreements, the recent meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama, was one of understanding and commitment to Israel's security."Israel has the right, obligation to defend itself," Shapiro stated.

Other speakers included, Naftali Bennett, Caroline Glick, Air Force Commander Major-General Amir Eshet, and Ambassador of the European Union Lars Faaborg-Anderson.
