West Bank - A stabbing attack was thwarted at the Eliyahu crossing into Israel from the West Bank on Monday morning.
According to the Defense Ministry the female suspect arrived on foot to the car crossing on Highway 55 in Samaria. Security forces of the Crossings Authority ordered her to halt but she continued in their direction.
The guards shot a warning shot in the air but when she pulled a knife out of her bag, they shot and wounded her.
Highway 55 between Jaljulya and the Alfei Menashe settlement was briefly closed to traffic following the incident.
In total on Sunday, Palestinian terrorists wounded seven Israelis in three attacks in separate locations in the West Bank.
In the same area of the West Bank, a 48-year-old man was badly wounded in a stabbing attack outside the Palestinian village of Nabi Ilyas on Sunday.
The Defense Ministry said the Emmanuel resident drove himself to a checkpoint and told security forces, “I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed,” and then lost consciousness.
He was treated by IDF personnel at the scene and then evacuated to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba while hooked up to a respirator.
An initial investigation has determined that the man stopped at a roadside store outside the Palestinian village when he was stabbed in the stomach.
