Jerusalem, Israel - Oct. 21, 2015 - The 37th World Zionist Congress opened at the Jerusalem International Conference Center with Prime Minister Benjamin Netenyahu speaking to a full auditorium of 700 people on Tuesday morning in Jerusalem.

The World Zionist Congress was established by Theodor Herzl in Basel, Switzerland in 1897. Today over 42 % of the delegates represent Zionist World Unions in over 30 countries.

Delegates and alternates from eleven Zionist slates came from the United States. For the first time, the Israeli Shas political party was participating in the WZC.

A lunch sponsored by American Zionist Movement, brought together US leaders from across religious and political affiliations to discuss how to strengthen and support Israel.

The Congress concludes on Thursday afternoon with an award ceremony and elections.
