Jerusalem - Terror attacks in Yerushalayim will not find the scholars studying at the Mir unprepared. Cans of pepper spray are now being sold at the entrance to the Mir Yeshiva.
Students there have watched an instructional video about how to use pepper spray in the event of an attack. Carrying pepper spray is legal in Israel, and there have been documented instances where using it has helped neutralize or prevent attacks. Additionally, just carrying the pepper spray increases the feeling of personal safety.
“Using pepper spray is very easy,” several people selling it told B’chadrei Charedim. “It’s important not spray it against the wind so it doesn’t bounce back in the direction of the sprayer. In the coming days, there will be a greater need for it as demand for pepper sprays increases and there is a very short supply at stores. The demand will be even greater as students return to the yeshiva and we will continue selling it.”
