Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 6, 2015 - With the start of Ashkenazi selichos on Motzei Shabbos, hundred of thousands of Jews around the world began saying selichos before Rosh Hashana.
This year 5775, saw hundreds of people pack into and stand outside of the Ohel Nehama synagogue in the Talbiya neighborhood of Jerusalem. Word had spread how powerful last year's selichos had been. They came to hear Yitzhak Meir once again sing with instruments accompanying him "Carlebach-Style Selichot." The overflow room of the shul downstairs was filled, as people watched the service on a large screen which was also broadcast live on Ynet.
The Jerusalem Great Synagogue had over a thousand people listening to Chazan Chaim Adler accompanied by choir.
The Kossel had multiple minyanim, with signs for the women directing them to Sephardi and Ashkenazi tefilos, respectively. Thousands came and went all night long to recite Selichos.
Around Jerusalem, Israel, there were hundreds more selichos minyanim. The ruach of the night can be seen in these videos of another Carebach-style Selichos which took place off the Rova, in the Old City, in one of the four Sephardi Synagogues led by Chizki Sofer.
