Baltimore, MD – Sep. 2, 2015 – On Monday evening, Aug. 31st, an elegant Buffet Benefit Reception was held to help support the efforts of Hatzalah of Baltimore.
The significant turnout demonstrated the esteem, appreciation and thankfulness the community has for this vital organization.
MC Yankie Katz introduced Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer, shlita, who spoke about his personal experience with Hatzalah. "I’m crying when I say this but they saved my life…es nafshi ani chayav bachem….Hopefully we shouldn’t need you, but if we need you we know we can count on you,” exclaimed the Rav.
There have been countless other such cases of Hatzalah saving the lives of members of our community as was echoed by speakers Mr. Larry Katz and Mr. Reuven Burkom that can be seen in this video.
Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer who attended the event noted that "Hatzalah's benefit to the community is immeasurable and it is incumbent upon all of us to assist them by any means possible."
Hatzalah of Baltimore is an independent, non-profit volunteer organization that, since 2007, has been providing emergency medical services to the citizens of Northwest Baltimore, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They provide immediate emergency medical care during those few precious minutes where immediate and proper care can mean the difference between life and death.
Currently, through an all-volunteer force of 30 emergency medical responders (EMTs and Paramedics) and 15 dispatchers, Hatzalah is able to arrive on-scene in less than 3 minutes. Hatzalah responds to well over 1000 calls per year, never missing a call regardless of time of day and/or weather conditions.
The Baltimore community is fortunate to have such a dedicated group of individuals who put their lives and the lives of their families on hold while they tend to the emergency (and in some cases non-emergency) medical needs of our growing, k’ah, Baltimore community.
