Baltimore, MD - June 30, 2025 -  Voluntary water restrictions issued in May across parts of the Baltimore area have since been lifted, the Baltimore City Department of Public Works announced Monday.

In coordination with Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties, the city DPW announced it has lifted the voluntary water restrictions for residents who are served by the local public water supply.

The restrictions were implemented amid historically low water levels at Liberty Reservoir, one of the region's primary drinking water sources. Water levels at Liberty Reservoir had dropped to their lowest level in almost 20 years.

The DPW cited record-setting rainfall in May — the wettest May since 2018 — that contributed to replenishing water levels at the Liberty, Loch Raven and Prettyboy reservoirs to near-normal levels.... Read More: WBAL TV
