Baltimore, MD - May 4, 2024 - (WBAL) Maryland State Police are intensifying enforcement efforts ahead of Cinco de Mayo weekend to address anticipated increases in impaired driving. All 23 State Police barracks across the state will be involved in DUI saturation patrols and high-visibility enforcement to deter distracted, aggressive, and impaired driving. Funding for these efforts comes partially from the Maryland Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. Troopers will employ various initiatives to ensure traffic safety, including high-visibility enforcement along major routes and areas with higher incidents of impaired driving crashes across different regions of the state. These measures aim to prevent accidents and save lives, as impaired driving continues to be a significant cause of fatalities and injuries on Maryland roads
