About 150 Jews were standing on line Sunday morning 7 Av, waiting to enter Har Habayis. Included in the group was Rosh Yeshivat Har Etzion Rabbi Medan.
Thirty minutes after the holy site opened, police announced it would only permit the Jews onto the site in group of up to 25 people.
It is reported that 278 shomer Shabbos Jews entered Har Habayis during the morning hours despite prolonged delays.
Gedolei Yisrael over the generations and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel prohibit visiting Har Habayis, which they explain carries the punishment of karess.
