Jerusalem, Israel - June 9, 2017 -  AMIT women in Yerushalayim, honored former Baltimorean, Rebbitzen Malke (Milikowsky) Bina at the Chug Ayelet and Dvorah Masovetsky annual Spring Luncheon, Tuesday, June 6. The event also commemorated the 50th Anniversary of the Reunification of Yerushalayim with Dr. Naomi Cohen, Rebbitzen of Rav She'ar Yashuv Cohen, z"l, former chief Rabbi of Haifa, sharing her first hand experiences.

In her acceptance remarks Rebbitzen Bina recalled her Baltimore Bais Yaakov graduation in June 1967, 50 years ago, where as valedictorian, she was honored to carry an Israeli flag leading the procession. Rebbitzen Bina moved to Israel after graduating to study at Michlala, and went on to teach Torah to women and found Matan, for advanced Torah studies for women.

Luncheon co-chairs were Rosalie Berman, Marcia Gardner, and Annette Jotkowitz, and Journal editors Barbara and Marvin Wachspress. Yaffi Shmidman, AMIT Israel Executive Chair, began the program with a Dvar Torah.

Chug Ayelet Co-Presidents, Annette Jotkowitz and Sarah Maslow, presented the AMIT student prize winning project, Pick-Nic, a table cloth of recyclable material which is a picnic table cloth, with activities for children printed on it, and when the picnic is over, can be used as a garbage bag.

Among those present with strong Maryland and Baltimore connections in the photo essay are: Sarah Shane, Ruth Friedman, Sarah Maslow, Pam Pelcovits, and Rebbitzen Bina, and her husband, Rav Aharon Bina, and sons and daughter-in-laws. and daughter Chaya Bina Katz.
