Icy roads possible in overnight hours

BALTIMORE —There's a chance for a wintry mix in Maryland Tuesday as a cold front moves into the region.

With partly cloudy conditions and temperatures in the 40s Tuesday, there's a 30 percent rain/snow chance as a cold front moves into the region during the evening hours, 11 Insta-Weather PLUS meteorologist Miri Marshall said.

After 5 p.m., a wintry mix is expected to fall, causing potentially icy roads. Any liquid that falls has the potential to freeze overnight, Marshall said.

Areas between Westminster and Towson may see a rain-snow mix. Points south of Towson could see more rain, Marshall said.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, a burst of snow is expected in the Hagerstown area with no real accumulation, just trace amount of snow or a coating likely, Marshall said. Northern Baltimore and Carroll counties are also expected to see trace amounts of snow.

Icy roads are  possible during the overnight hours.
