Baltimore, MD – Dec. 4, 2025 (BJL) — This past month, married women and mothers from across Baltimore participated in a valuable five-part refresher course presented by the STAR-K. The series, designed to strengthen everyday halachic knowledge in the kitchen and beyond, underscored the importance of reviewing these halachos regularly- keeping them fresh, accurate, and at our fingertips.
Rabbi Sholom Tendler opened the series with a practical look at Day-to-Day Kashrus in the Kitchen, reviewing common scenarios and addressing real-life questions that arise in busy homes. The following week, Rabbi Mordechai Frankel delivered a comprehensive class on Tovelling, while also covering additional kitchen halachos that participants wanted clarified.
Rabbi Dovid Heber continued the program with a session on Shabbos in the Kitchen, guiding attendees through the halachos that apply when preparing, cooking, and serving food on Shabbos. The series then explored the increasingly relevant topic of Shabbos Mode, with Rabbi Chananya Jacobson explaining how modern appliances interact with halacha and what consumers should be aware of when using them.
The final class, led by Rabbi Zvi Holland, focused on Traveling and Ordering Kosher, providing practical guidance for maintaining kashrus standards outside the home—whether on vacation, in airports, or while navigating today’s restaurant and takeout options.
Rabbi Zvi Goldberg, who organized the event, noted, “We are always eager to teach about kashrus and related halachos to the community. We are grateful for the efforts that Mrs. Aviva Feld put into arranging it.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to the STAR-K for providing these informative sessions and for their continued dedication to supporting the Baltimore community. The series concluded with the women feeling empowered and appreciative of the clarity and practical guidance they received.
