A mother’s letter. A child’s fight. Shira urgently needs life-saving care. You can help - but only if we act now.
My name is Bracha, and I’m writing not only as a mother, but as someone who deeply believes in the quiet power of kindness.
My daughter Shira is a bright, tender-hearted little girl. She’s been diagnosed with leukemia — a cancer of the blood. Her eyesight has already been affected, and the emotional toll on our family has been immense.
Shira is currently receiving care in a local hospital in Poland, but doctors have urged us to transfer her to a specialized children's hospital in Vienna. There, she can receive the advanced, life-saving treatment she urgently needs.
The cost of this treatment is over $150,000 — far beyond anything we ...

Baltimore, MD - May 14, 2025 - There are a handful of young people driving the majority of the crimes happening in Baltimore City, and the kids are known to police, members of the City Council learned this week.
The details were revealed during a public safety hearing at City Hall on Wednesday. Representatives from the Baltimore Police Department told councilmembers there are between 10 and 50 young people who can be recognized by name.
While stolen auto arrests are declining, according to BPD data, most of the charges are coming from robbery or robbery-related incidents, Lisa Reynolds from BPD said.
Officers have the ability to spot robbery patterns, and Lt. Col. John Herzog said currently, there aren’t any open robbery patterns in the city. But, he said, BPD can’t im...

The Lag B'Omer celebration in Meron will begin Thursday evening, approximately an hour after sunset, with the traditional lighting of the bonfire atop the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai by the Rebbe of Boyan. The schedule, released today by the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, outlines a restructured format aimed at ensuring safety for all participants.
This year, 23 lighting ceremonies will take place over the course of a 24 hour period and across three main locations: the expanded celebration area, the Bnei Akiva area, and the village of Meron.
The new arrangement is part of a comprehensive safety system developed following the 2021 disaster.

Rawan Osman grew up in the Hezbollah-controlled Beqaa Valley of Lebanon, raised in a world steeped in antisemitism. From school to home, everything taught her that Jews were heartless enemies. Though she had never met a Jew, the hatred felt justified—until it quietly unraveled in a small grocery store in Strasbourg, France.
After fleeing the Syrian war to study winemaking in France, Rawan stumbled upon a neighborhood shop filled with familiar Middle Eastern foods. But during her first visit, something startled her. A group of Orthodox Jewish men entered, speaking Hebrew. Terrified by their appearance—long coats, side curls, black hats—Rawan panicked. She dropped her groceries, left her wallet, and ran.
No one had looked at her. No one had spoken to her. But the fear, pl...
US President Donald Trump urged Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa to sign the Abraham Accords with Israel during their meeting ahead of the GCC summit in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The US leader added that he is also looking to normalize relations with Sharaa. The meeting between the two comes one day after Trump said that the US was lifting sanctions on Syria.
Trump told the Syrian leader he has "a tremendous opportunity to do something historic in his country," according to an official statement by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Trump also urged Sharaa to "tell all foreign terrorists to leave Syria, deport Palestinian terrorists, help the US to prevent the resurgence of ISIS, and assume responsibility for ISIS detention centers in the northeastern parts of the country."

A federal judge on Tuesday said the Trump administration can invoke the Alien Enemies Act (AEA) to deport criminal illegal immigrant members of the Venezuelan Tren De Aragua gang, but that it has not given adequate prior notice to those subject to removal, before those deportations can take place, which would allow possible due process and habeas legal challenges.
The 43-page ruling by U.S. District Judge Stephanie Haines, a Trump appointee, conflicts with other rulings challenging the administration's deportation efforts.
"Having done its job, the Court now leaves it to the Political Branches of the government, and ultimately to the people who elect those individuals, to decide whether the laws and those executing them continue to reflect their will," Haines wrote.
