The Senate on Thursday confirmed Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary in President Donald Trump's cabinet.
The Republican-controlled Senate voted nearly entirely along party lines to confirm Kennedy. The final showdown over his controversial nomination was set in motion hours earlier, after another party line vote on Wednesday afternoon which started the clock ticking toward the confirmation roll call.
Kennedy, the well-known vaccine skeptic and environmental crusader who ran for the White House in 2024 before ending his bid and endorsing Trump, needed a simple majority to be confirmed by the Senate.
Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky was the only Republican to vote against Kennedy's nomination. McConnell, the former longtime GOP Senate leader,...

Baltimore, MD - Feb. 12, 2025 - It may be Valentine's week, but forget the romance.
Instead, how about a "bromance?"
A tow truck driver and a rabbi have become fast friends after a chance encounter in the snow.
At AAA's Fleet Garage in Woodlawn, Rabbi Avi Sharfman meets up with roadside technician Jerome Belton, someone he considers a good friend.
"I would say it's a lot more than that. I would say brothers," Sharfman told 11 News.
Watching the two, it's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, they were strangers.
Sharfman, a chaplain for LifeBridge Health, was on his way to provide angel services in January for a dying man in hospice when his car went into a snowbank. He called AAA for help.

Baltimore, MD - Feb. 12, 2025 - The Maryland Realtors said a new survey showed housing affordability is the No. 1 concern for people in the state, surpassing taxes and crime for the first time in history.
The state’s shortage of affordable housing units has nearly doubled in the last five years, according to Maryland Realtors president Cherly Abrams Davis, who puts the blame on local governments.
“Even after 2024’s landmark legislation, some local governments continue to drag their feet to open housing opportunities in their communities,” Davis said.
Realtors are pushing for alternative housing options like “Accessory Dwelling Units,” which are independent units built on existing properties like guest houses.
Davis said their survey found 8...
Senior Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri spoke to Al Jazeera on Wednesday evening and stated that Hamas is "committed" to implementing the previously agreed schedule of the hostage deal and that they will not release "all" Israeli hostages on Saturday.
Abu Zuhri's comments likely came as part of a larger statement to Al Jazeera regarding Hamas's views towards the potential breakdown of the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that if Hamas does not release the Israeli hostages by Saturday, all hell will break loose.
This referenced US President Donald Trump when he said, "If all the Gaza hostages aren't returned by Saturday at 12 p.m., I would say cancel the ceasefire. Let all hell break loose; Israel can ov...
