The Controversial Demolition That Threatens to Spark Unrest in Eastern Jerusalem
By: Arutz-7
Arutz-7 reports that Israeli police are planning to raze a building inhabited by around 100 people in the Wadi Qadum neighborhood of eastern Jerusalem, according to Kan 11. The demolition, which was postponed for years due to various reasons including foreign pressure, has raised concerns among security officials that it may trigger violence in the capital. The operation, which is slated to occur on Tuesday or Wednesday, will involve over 500 police officers and is expected to take over 24 hours. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated to Kan News, "We must enforce the law, that is my policy." Ben-Gvir recently ordered the expedited demolition of illegal buildings in the city unrelated to terrorism, following last week's terror attacks. Each building has a demolition order against it, and so far seven out of 14 structures ordered by Ben-Gvir to be demolished have been destroyed. Last Tuesday, Arab youths from the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood blocked the entrance to the neighborhood in response to the orders.

Annapolis, MD - Jan. 27, 2025 - Maryland's Attorney General Anthony Brown released guidance for state and local law enforcement on their role in federal immigration policies as debate on the topic swirls.
The guidance is an update to policies outlined in 2017 addressing changes in Maryland law.
“Maryland law ensures police handle immigration enforcement in a way that builds trust with immigrant communities, helping them feel safe to report and prevent crime. The federal government cannot compel state and local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws,” Attorney General Brown said. “This guidance ensures that law enforcement agencies understand the scope and limitations of their authority and makes clear that the rule of law does not change depending on the feder...

Is Baltimore County Public Schools intentionally omitting important information about the upcoming budget in its messaging to taxpayers? One government watchdog says the district is not giving the public the full picture.
Baltimore County Public Schools, earlier this month, issued a news release to the school community. It outlines Superintendent Dr. Myriam Rogers’ proposed 2026 operating budget. The release contains important information for taxpayers, parents and students. But it’s the information not contained in the release that caught Project Baltimore’s attention.
“This is disingenuous, to say the least,” said David Williams with the Taxpayers Protection Alliance. “They're not giving taxpayers the full picture of what the increase in educati...

More than a dozen officials who worked on the criminal investigations into Donald Trump have been fired, according to sources familiar with the matter.
A letter from acting Attorney General James McHenry to the officials said they cannot be “trusted” to “faithfully” implement Trump’s agenda.
“You played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump. The proper functioning of government critically depends on the trust superior officials place in their subordinates,” McHenry wrote. “Given your significant role in prosecuting the President, I do not believe that the leadership of the Department can trust you to assist in implementing the President’s agenda faithfully.”
The firings come as the the Trump administration is taking...
Jerusalem, Israel - Jan. 26, 2025 - The Israeli Population Authority has announced that older, non-biometric identity cards (teudot zehut) are nearing their final expiration date. These cards, which were issued prior to the biometric era, lack an expiration date, but a policy change now mandates their renewal.
Old identity cards were originally set to expire on August 25, 2024. In a recent announcement from the Population Authority, the deadline was extended to January 31, 2025. If your identity card was issued before August 25, 2012, your card will expire at the end of January. You will need to apply for a biometric card as soon as possible.
For those whose cards were issued between August 26, 2012 and June 30, 2013, the cards will expire 12 years from th...
What Are The Facts? That shiny coating that can be found on anything from jellybeans to fruit to hard-wood flooring. What is it made of? Is it Kosher? Let's listen in to a fascinating (and slightly discomforting) discussion about Shellac otherwise known as confectioners glaze, with Rabbi Sholem Fishbane - Kashrus Administrator at the Chicago Rabbinical Council, and Executive Director of AKO.
Over thirty heads of state will be participating this coming week in the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, titled “Remembering the Holocaust, Fighting Antisemitism,” at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. In honor of this event, permit me to share with you the remarkable story of Charles Lutz.
A friend visiting Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov community was walking on Charles Lutz Street. The street sign mentioned that Lutz was among the Chasidei Umot Ha’olam – Righteous Among the Nations – which piqued his interest, so he googled the name. After reading the first paragraph about Mr. Lutz, my friend sent me the following WhatsApp: Gedaliah, you MUST write an article about this mystery man!
Charles - known as Carl - Lutz is credited with saving over 62,000 Jews during the Holoc...

Eight of the 33 people on the list provided by the Hamas terrorist organization of the Israeli hostages who are being freed during the six-week ceasefire are dead, government spokesperson David Mencer told reporters today (Monday).
"The families have been informed of the situation of their relatives," he said.
Israel received the list of hostages last night, a week into the ceasefire. 25 of the hostages are alive, including the seven women who have been released so far, and only 18 living hostages remain of those who are set to be released in the coming weeks.
The next group of hostages will be released on Thursday, followed by another group on Saturday. Israeli civilian Arbel Yehud is expected to be among the hostages who are released this week after Hamas violated the agreement by rel...

Automaker Kia America is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles due to floor wiring beneath the front passenger seat that can become damaged and prevent airbags and seat belts from deploying properly.
Damaged wiring can also cause an unintended side curtain air bag deployment, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall covers 80,255 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid vehicles.
To remedy the situation, dealers will inspect, replace and reroute the floor wiring assembly, as necessary, for free. In addition, dealers will install wiring covers. Owners will be notified by letters mailed in March.
The recall follows one in November, when Hyundai and Kia recalled over 208,000 electric vehicles to fix a transistor i...
