Preference will be given to returning Israeli nationals ahead of March 23 elections

Israel will permit entry to foreign nationals who receive permission from a government committee prior to travel starting from Monday, according to the Population and Immigration Authority.

Preference will be given to Israeli nationals returning from abroad ahead of the March 23 elections, the Population and Immigration Authority said in a press release. Non-citizens will be allowed in only with special authorization beforehand.

Entry permits will be considered by a special committee, only if the applicant meets the following criteria: Individuals essential to Israel's diplomatic or national security; partners or parents of Israeli citizens; professional athletes approved to participate in competitions; new immigrants who are unable to change their date of immigration; foreign workers whose presence is required in order to stay employed; humanitarian needs.
