Baltimore, MD - Feb. 18, 2019 - The DoubleTree by Hilton Baltimore North/Pikesville is undergoing a major renovation that will include all of its public space and guest rooms. Included in this exciting initiative by its new owners, Blue Ocean, will be a special focus on the dynamic kosher community in the Northeast including the vibrant local Jewish community of Baltimore.
Conveniently located just south of the Baltimore Beltway/I-695 and Reisterstown Road interchange (Exit 20) in the middle of the Northwest Baltimore business district, the DoubleTree is an attractive property to both corporate guests and tourists. The Pikesville hotel offers easy access to various area attractions. Thurgood Marshall (BWI) Airport is just 20 minutes away, while access to local MTA Metro station trains are only a short 5 minutes down the road. Amtrak connections at Baltimore’s Penn Station is also only fifteen minutes from the Pikesville hotel.
Jonathan Ehrenfeld, President of Blue Ocean, said: “We feel privileged to have the opportunity to significantly upgrade one of the most prized and recognizable properties in northern Baltimore.” He added: “Our aim is to attract the dynamic business and local community, which is why we will be emphasizing our offering of a very high quality kosher cuisine.” He continued: “Our prestigious DoubleTree brand is well known for its special care and hospitality and thanks to a modernization program that will position it with some of the prime hotel properties in the region, we will able to serve groups and events of all sizes.”
According to Adam Wightman, General Manager of the DoubleTree, “the hotel is well positioned to offer groups the ultimate experience for their businesses and participants.” For Jewish groups planning conferences and conventions, its proximity to one of the nation’s most dynamic Jewish communities is a huge advantage as is its relatively short travel time to Washington DC, an important destination for many Jewish groups and visitors. To enhance the guest experience and to accommodate larger gatherings, the hotel is in the process of further expanding its already spacious ballrooms and meeting spaces by adding some 7,500 square feet to the existing footprint of 11,800 sq. ft. The hotel is also planning a full kosher kitchen which will offer guests and visitors alike a gourmet kosher experience.
As much as the hotel is an ideal location for large group events, it is also a perfect setting for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah or wedding celebration. Said Mr. Ehrenfeld: “In the next few months our renovations program will continue to unfold as the hotel fulfills a vision of being the ideal setting for both tourists and groups.”He continued: “It is the perfect location to spend a Shabbat with family or simply to be within walking distance of the celebrated Jewish community of Baltimore.”
For tourists, Baltimore is rich with attractions and activities including Baltimore Inner Harbor, Fort McHenry National Monument, the historic Hippodrome Theatre, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the National Aquarium and so much more. At the end of the day, guests can enjoy a game of tennis at the Baltimore Health & Tennis facility attached to the hotel. There is also complimentary access to a full selection of exercise equipment, free weights, and aerobic machines. Six indoor tennis courts are available, by reservation at an additional charge.
The DoubleTree is booking well into 2020 for all types of group events including kosher celebrations and conferences. Isaac Livni, the Kosher Events Coordinator at The DoubleTree Hilton at Pikesville, said that he already booked a full slate of organizational programs including Shabbatons.
