Ariel University Summer Business School (AUSBS) for the first time is open to international students, with accreditation from Long Island University.  International students can experience “Startup Nation,” study, live and tour Israel with local Israeli students.

Israeli and non-Israeli citizens are eligible, if they hold or are entitled to an undergraduate/BA or graduate/Master’s degree, Phd., or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in at least their second-year of study.

Application to the Accelerator Program requires a solid business idea and passing an interview with the program leaders.  However, students will gain a strong foundation in business theory and economics through lectures and assignments, discovering and exploring the most relevant topics and issues for today’s job market.

Accepted students will participate in workshop-based training sessions in entrepreneurship and mentorship by key industry leaders. At the end of the program, entrepreneurs will develop a professional business plan, financial projections, executive summary and the necessary skills to pitch to the global market, with a North American context.

Upon successful program completion, participants will receive a formal institutional certification from Ariel University, with formal academic credit from either Ariel University,  York University, or Long Island University.

The program instructors come from varied backgrounds, marketing, economics, communications, and commercialization. The faculty and mentors include Dr. Eleonora Shkolnik, Executive Director of the Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Ariel, Long Island University Business Policy Professor Adva (Rachel) Dinur,  LIU Business Strategy Professor Herbert Sherman, and three members of the prestigious York University Entrepreneurship Development Institute StartUp Accelerator, (YEDI) Dr. Marat Ressin (YEDI President), Dr. Oleg Amurjuev, and Mr. Richard Phillips.

Since launching in 2013, YEDI has accelerated over 135 start-ups and not-for-profit organizations that have attracted notable global investments. Dr. Ressin told BJL, “We strive to establish global connections for our alumni and are incredibly honoured that Ariel University has chosen to partner and implement YEDI’s methodology for accelerating their forward-thinking ventures. Furthermore, we foresee expanded opportunities for Israeli ventures that will now have direct access to the North American market.”

“Israel is home to major players in the high-tech industry and has one of the world's most technologically literate populations.” Dr. Sherman stated. “Science and technology in Israel is one of the country's most developed sectors. Israel spent 4.2% of its gross domestic product (GDP) on civil research and development in 2013, one of the highest ratios in the world. Israel ranks fifth among the most innovative countries in the Bloomberg Innovation Index.”

Nadav Halachmi, a 25-year old second year Civil Engineering student at Ariel from Kochav Hair,  is one of the cohorts accepted for this summer’s program, “What I am most looking forward to are the speakers, who are renowned for their expertise, and I appreciate the chance to be able to learn from them.”

Ariel University (AU) is looking to pioneer a new future for Israel and its younger generation. From its inception, AU has integrated research and development. By pursuing this two-pronged agenda AU has gained a level of excellence in both research and scholarship that attracts thousands of students from all over the country.

AUSBS student Corrinne Berger, from Raanana, said of  her experience, “ I signed up for the program not knowing what to expect...I imagined a 'buzzwords' type of course with talk of RFPs and ROIs and other wall street-type acronyms… What we got was something completely different. That is, the financial aspect was addressed of course, but this was done as an adjunct to an overall perspective, rather than the focus. We were presented with the process while keeping the goal in mind. We were shown clear and specific steps in the movement from idea to implementation. It completely changed my perspective, my way of looking at business and the world. “

Full research university status was granted in December 2012, making AU Israel's 8th research university. the first research university to open in Israel in 40 years. Ariel University is Israel's fastest growing institution of higher education, with over 15,000 students and 400 senior faculty, representing the full spectrum of Israeli society, Jews and Arabs, secular and observant, new immigrants and native-born Israelis.

The program runs from  July 23 -August 13, 2018, with openings for International Students.
