Jerusalem, Israel - May 16, 2023  - "Imagine the intensity of those days, 75 years ago," asks the Israel Forever Foundation (IFF) Executive Director Dr. Elana Yael Heideman. Since the UN vote was announced at the end of the League of Nations Mandate on May 14th at midnight, the region of Palestine Eretz Yisrael, as it was known for centuries, would be returned to the Jewish People.

In the hours prior to the declaration of Jewish independence, the whole of the Yishuv in the land and the Jewish people around the world waited with excitement for the fulfillment of our historical rights.

Today, those rights are continuously questioned. The United Nations hosted for the first time an official Nakba Day celebration - a negation of Jewish rights and the rights of Israel as an internationally recognized legal entity for over 100 years since the Balfour Declaration.

In Jerusalem, Israel at the David Citadel Hotel, IFF hosted on May 15. 2023, a Declaration Day event to mark the historic milestone of Israel's Independence in the ancestral homeland of the Jewish nation and celebrate Israel75.

Diplomats and invited guests heard from various speakers, including DC attorney and Maryland resident Richard D. Heideman, Alex Traiman CEO of Jewish News Syndicate, and Jerusalem Post Editor - in chief, Avi Mayer.

A copy of the Israeli Declaration of Independence hangs near the entrance of the Knesset Building next to the Chagall Hall, an image of the beginning text is included in the photo essay.

The event was also broadcast live on social media channels.
