A ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Gaza seems to be holding, despite minor incidents after its enactment, reports TOI. The ceasefire, mediated by Egypt, ends five days of intense conflict, during which over 1,200 rockets were launched at Israel, who responded by targeting PIJ assets. Residents of areas close to Gaza have been told to remain near bomb shelters overnight, with movement and gathering restrictions set to be lifted on Sunday. However, this may be a precautionary measure, as previous ceasefires have been violated. In Gaza City, residents celebrated the ceasefire. The truce involves a commitment to stop attacks on civilians and the destruction of homes. Israel has refused to include in the ceasefire agreement demands from PIJ related to the release of a senior member's body and a halt to the assassination of its leaders.
