As reported previously by Chaim V’Chessed, most countries classified as Red by Israel’s Health Ministry have now become Orange. Notably, the United States and the UK remain Red at this time. Various reports have claimed that this, too, will change in the coming days. We stress that at this time, no decision has been made, though an announcement may come soon.

At the same time, the Interior Ministry today released new, broad categories of travelers who will be permitted to enter Israel, even from Red countries. Travelers will be permitted to enter for various life cycle events of relatives provided they are fully vaccinated. This will include events such as Bar mitzvahs, weddings, funerals, and even engagements, shloshim and first yartzheits

Furthermore, the circle of relationships has been vastly expanded to include first degree relatives as well as grandparents, grandchildren, great grandchildren. Additionally, spouses and children of the aforementioned relatives will also be granted permission. Seemingly, this may mean that even great uncles & aunts will be able to attend such events. At this time, not all government offices have been advised of these changes, and these permissions may not yet be granted.
