A federal appeals court ruled Friday that TikTok can be banned in the U.S. over national security concerns, upholding a federal law requiring the popular social media app to shed its Chinese ownership to keep operating.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said Congress has the power to take action against TikTok to protect U.S. interests.
The ruling rejected a First Amendment challenge brought by the app and several of its star users, who argued the ban was an unconstitutional infringement on free speech.
The sell-or-ban law—signed by President Biden in April—passed with bipartisan support after lawmakers received classified briefings from the intelligence community about China’s ability to use TikTok to surveil Ameri...

Baltimore, MD - Dec. 6, 2024 - (WBAL) A massive fire at Camp Small, a wood waste yard in Woodberry, has shut down I-83 between Northern Parkway and Druid Park Lake Drive, along with portions of Coldspring Lane and Druid Park Lake Drive. Light Rail service is also suspended to protect tracks. Fire crews, in "defense mode" since the fire began at 5:15 p.m., are battling intense flames, wind-blown embers, and collapsing wood piles using elevated water streams. Nearby areas, including the Falls Road corridor, have experienced small secondary fires. Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Western High School will have a two-hour delay on Friday. Over a dozen fire companies are actively combating the blaze.
Coldspring Lane between I-83 and the Woodberry Apartments is Closed, Residents and Commuters are Encouraged to Avoid the Area

Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) introduced legislation on Thursday that would require all official US documents and materials to use the historically accurate term “Judea and Samaria” instead of the “West Bank."
According to the Senator, the bill, titled the Retiring the Egregious Confusion Over the Genuine Name of Israel’s Zone of Influence by Necessitating Government-use of Judea and Samaria (RECOGNIZING Judea and Samaria) Act, would require the use of historically accurate terminology and align US policy language with the geographical and cultural significance of the region.
The legislation was introduced in the House by Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY).
“The Jewish people’s legal and historic rights to Judea and Samaria go back thousands of years. Th...
Yaakov received the blessings from his father but along with them, the scorn of his brother Esav. He fled to Charan to seek safety and sanctuary and a wife. “And Jacob left Beer Sheba, and he went to Haran. And he arrived at the place and lodged there because the sun had set, and he took some of the stones of the place and placed [them] at his head, and he lay down in that place. (Genesis 28:10-11).”
The Talmud (Chullin 91b) paints a dramatic picture: “And Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.” And it is written thereafter: “And he encountered the place, and he slept there, because the sun had set.” When Jacob arrived at Haran, he said: Is it possible that I passed a place where my fathers prayed, and I did not pray there?...
Baltimore, MD - Dec. 5, 2024 -‘Tis the season as they say. It’s almost Chanuka! Well, at least 20 more days to go, as my preschoolers are counting down. And oh how we have all been counting. We are counting until our hostages and soldiers come home, alive, and whole in body and soul, and counting for the war to end! I applaud those who still wear that piece of tape and make it a stark reminder to everyone. I admit that I stopped, however I guess I am still taping in my mind. I say my daily Tehillim for the hostages, say the Yehi Ratzon for our Chayalim in the teacher’s room, and when I get into my car and see the yellow ribbon I tied along with the “Bring them Home” dog tag swinging from m...
