Walmart and CVS are reducing pharmacy hours due to a shortage of pharmacy staff. Both companies have cut two hours from their pharmacy days and will now close at 7 PM every night. The University of Cincinnati, one of the oldest pharmacy schools in the US, has noted a drop in enrollment in pharmacy schools over the past decade but reports that enrollment numbers are reversing due to pharmacists' vital role in public health during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it will take 2-3 years of pre-pharmacy education before new students can enter the workforce and start filling positions. The College of Pharmacy is attempting to entice students to consider the program.
