'The military benefit was not equivalent to the political and image damage [to Israel]'

A former Israeli general said on Sunday that Israel’s bombing of a building in the Gaza Strip that housed The Associated Press (AP) bureau in May was an “own goal.”

Maj. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon suggested that the incident caused more damage to Israel’s image than it provided strategic benefit, The Times of Israel (ToI) reported.

“Bringing down the tower with the AP offices was equivalent to a self-inflicted ‘public relations terror attack’ and an own goal, in our view,” he said.... Read More: i24
