Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 28, 2017 - Leaders of World Zionist Organization, WZO, honored Dr.Nissim Levy and Rina Levy at the Herzl Museum in Jerusalem, Israel, on Tuesday evening. A plaque recognizing Dr. Levy, as Chairman of the museum, and the Levys for their generous contributions to the Herzl Museum, was revealed at a dedication ceremony,
The official program was opened with remarks from Dudi Bergman. Avraham Duvdevani, served in the IDF Paratrooper Regiment deployed in the liberation of Jerusalem, during the Six Day War, and has been WZO chairman, since 2010. In his remarks, Duvdevani spoke of Rosh Hashanah as a time to remember the past, but also the future, and to build to for the future. The Levys through their philanthropy are building for future generations.
Former Defense Minister Moshe "Bogie" Ya'alon mentioned the terror event of the morning, where three Israeli security members were murdered at the entrance to Har Adar. However, Ya'alon stated, "Israel is strong."
Nissim and Rina Levy, each spoke briefly, to the audience, which included family members, with young grandchildren. The WZO gift presented by Duvdevani to Levy, resulted in a light moment, as it was a simple framed page admitting Levy to the museum.
Yaakov Hagoel, Vice Chairman WZO, Eli Cohen, WZO CEO, Dror Morag, Michael Jankelowitz, Prof Dan Koren, Gilit Simha, and Theodore Herzl (impersonator) were among attendees of this event.
The official Israeli ceremony on Har Herzl, commemorating 120 years since the First Zionist Congress in Basel, when Herzl put forth his vision of Jews returning to Zion, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is scheduled for Wednesday night, also on Har Herzl, but closer to Herzl's grave.
