Jerusalem - The Israel Missile Defense Organization and the American Missile Defense Agency, together with the United States European Command, recently completed a five-day test that examined the integration of Israeli and American missile defense systems against an attack of thousands of simulated rockets fired from Iran and Lebanon, Defense Ministry officials said.

The test, which was conducted by Elbit Systems, examined the extent of integration in real time between American missile defense systems both inside and outside the US and Israeli missile defense systems — ones that are operational as well as ones that are still in development, such as Arrow and David’s Sling.

The test also compared Israel’s multi-layered defense system at developmental centers in Israel with the American defense system, which is scattered in various developmental centers throughout the US. In addition, it measured future capabilities of the missile defense systems in each country.

Despite the ongoing strong missile defense cooperation between the US and Israel, both countries have yet to agree on the terms for a prospective renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOA). The current MOA, which began in 2009 and expires in 2018, provides Israel with approximately $3.1 billion in military aid.
