Washington - Vice President Joe Biden says the U.S. has an obligation to push Israel toward peace with Palestinians despite a sometimes “overwhelming frustration” with Israel’s government.

Biden is criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government during a speech to the advocacy group J Street. He says Israeli actions over the past few years have moved Israel in the wrong direction, toward a one-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He’s citing the “steady expansion” of Israeli settlements in territory claimed by Palestinians for a future state.
