Baltimore, MD - Apr. 4, 2016 - Bikur Cholim of Baltimore, is delighted to announce the hiring of Rabbi Pinchos Rabinowitz as its first Executive Director. “The growth of our community, along with the increased demand to provide supportive services for visits to doctors and hospitals for locals and those from out of town, makes this a perfect time to hire our first Executive Director,” said Board Chair, Yaakov Feinstein. “By joining Bikur Cholim now, Reb Pinchos will not only help to direct meeting the increased requests for services but will also enhance the vibrancy for which our organization is known by establishing closer relationships with our volunteers.”

In his new position, Reb Pinchos will oversee Bikur Cholim’s daily operation to assure smooth and efficient service provision. In addition, he will build relationships with doctors and hospital staff, while also broadening the extraordinary Bikur Cholim volunteers—over 350 strong—who are the heart and soul of Bikur Cholim. Reb Pinchos is looking forward to working with Mrs. Bonnie Pollak, Coordinator of Family Services for Bikur Cholim, who carries much of the day to day responsibilities.

“Rabbi Pinchos Rabinowitz is a face we all recognize, but most of us may not know about his years of experience working with cholim, their families, doctors and hospitals,” declares Mr. Feinstein. “Since his arrival in Baltimore fifteen years ago, Reb Pinchos has frequently been called upon by countless people from New York to Israel to help them navigate the health care system within our community.”

“Reb Pinchos's love of humanity, warmth and commitment to helping others is  widely recognized by the many people he has touched in the course of his professional life and in the assistance he has provided to so many in need over the years. His passionate devotion to chesed, coupled with his vast knowledge and experience in successfully traversing the maze of issues associated with illness, will no doubt serve him in transforming Bikur Cholim into an even more dynamic, efficient and powerful organization that will service effectively the needs of those facing illness and its many challenges,” asserted Rabbi Zvi Teichman, Rav of Congregation Ohel Moshe and Bikur Cholim board member.

The needs addressed by Bikur Cholim focus on a broad spectrum of services:

  • Food service – deliveries to hospitals and homes
  • Hospital Kosher Pantries
  • Visitation

Reflecting on these services and his new position, Rabbi Rabinowitz remarked, “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead such a worthy organization within our community.  Not only am I passionate about serving cholim and their families, but I have a vision for offering comprehensive programs that I am looking forward to sharing over the coming months.”
