Ben Gurion Airport - Mar. 11, 2016 - A small ceremony was held this morning at Ben Gurion Airport to say farewell to Taylor Force, an American citizen and former US soldier who was killed by a Palestinian terrorist in Jaffa this week. The ceremony was organized by former MK Rabbi Dov Lipman who said, "It was simply the right thing to do and I was prepared to be the only person there so pay respects to Taylor." The ceremony was attended by members of the US Military led Lieutenant General Frederick S. Rudesheim who is the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority and representatives of the US Embassy in Israel led by the Palestinian Authority and William Grant, Deputy Chief of Missions.
Lipman opened the ceremony by reading a message from Taylor's sister, Kristen, on behalf of the Taylor family:
"Please convey our deepest appreciation to the Israeli people and government who have been so compassionate and thoughtful during the worst moment of our lives.
Taylor was our world and our lives are forever changed, but knowing Israel mourns with us is comforting."
William Grant then shared a message on behalf of US Ambassador Daniel Shapiro in which he condemned the terror attack in the strongest of terms and praised Taylor for taking what he learned in the US Army towards a career in business and working together with Israeli companies.
David Simpkins, who attended West Point with Taylor and now resides in Israel, said that Taylor had no enemies and was a person he seeks to emulate. He asked people of all faiths to pray for Taylor's family and concluded his words by saying he has no doubt that Taylor is in the World to Come and he hopes that he can meet him there one day.
The group then sang the US National Anthem to honor Taylor and his family and then Lipman ended the ceremony with the Hebrew saying, "May He Who makes peace Above, bring peace to all of us."
