Jerusalem - Luke Baker, a Reuters reporter was detained by Hamas officials in Gaza on Thursday according to his twitter account.

The Reuters bureau chief for Israel and the Palestinian Territories tweeted that he was approached by an unarmed Hamas security representative and taken in for questioning. He added that while he was not accused of anything, he was questioned as to the nature of his current stay in Gaza.

Luke writes on Twitter: I was never accused of anything. Was given coffee and then tea. All questions about what I was doing in Gaza and what I do for work, etc.

Two weeks ago in Jerusalem the Israel Police detained a reporter from The Washington Post along with an Arab colleague.  The two were briefly detained and questioned for suspicion of “incitement” while conducting interviews outside the Old City’s Damascus Gate.

According to The Washington Post correspondent Ruth Eglash, they were pulled aside by police while interviewing Arab locals.
