Baltimore, MD – June 17, 2026 – Community members, healthcare leaders, and dedicated supporters recently gathered for an evening that beautifully reflected the strength and unity of our local Orthodox community.
Hosted by Rachel and David Warschawski, the “Magic of Chai” event brought together leaders from Sinai Hospital and Levindale alongside physicians and community members for an intimate and meaningful conversation. Building on the momentum of the recent Magic of Life Gala, the evening created a space where relationships were deepened, and important conversations could unfold in a more personal setting.
We were also honored by the presence of newly elected President and CEO, Jennifer Nickoles, whose attendance underscored the importance of this growing partnership.
Emcee Yanky Schorr opened the evening by capturing its essence: a shared commitment to supporting life at every stage in a way that honors the values, sensitivities, and traditions of Baltimore’s Orthodox community.
Guests had the opportunity to hear directly from key leaders shaping healthcare across LifeBridge Health.
Amy Shlossman, President of Sinai Hospital, spoke about Sinai’s longstanding partnership with the Orthodox community and the hospital’s ongoing efforts to ensure that care delivery reflects patients’ religious and cultural needs. Whether through Shabbos accommodations, culturally aware policies, or close collaboration with community organizations, Sinai continues to prioritize both excellence in care and respect for every patient’s way of life.
Dr. Philip McClure, Director of the International Center for Limb Lengthening, highlighted the life-changing impact of highly specialized care available right here in Baltimore. While his program draws patients from around the globe, he emphasized the importance for local Orthodox families of being able to access world-class treatment without leaving their community, support systems, and guidance.
Focusing on the future, Dr. Jordan Wickstrom, Director of Clinical Pediatric Research, shared how advances in pediatric research are improving outcomes for children while building trust with families. By approaching research with transparency and sensitivity, Sinai is ensuring that innovation remains accessible and aligned with the community’s needs and values.
Representing Levindale, Ross Maultasch, Assistant Vice President of Operations, spoke about the critical role Levindale plays in caring for older adults with dignity and respect. From maintaining religious observance to creating a familiar and supportive environment, Levindale provides families with confidence that their loved ones are cared for in a setting that understands what matters most.
A particularly meaningful moment came as each panelist reflected on what it means to serve the Orthodox community. Their responses underscored a shared sense of mission: to deliver not only exceptional medical care, but care rooted in understanding, partnership, and respect.
We extend special thanks to our Partner Sponsors—MFI Realty, Isaac and Nancy Pretter, and Residential Title & Escrow / Commercial Settlement Services—as well as our Heritage Sponsors—Howard and Chaya Friedman, Scott and Lisa London, SOS Technology Group, and Tide Realty Capital—for their generous support in making this evening possible.
The evening concluded with heartfelt thanks to the hosts and organizers whose efforts made the gathering possible, and whose dedication continues to strengthen the connection between Sinai, Levindale, and the Baltimore Orthodox community.
More than just a program, the “Magic of Chai” evening served as a powerful reminder that in Baltimore, healthcare is not only about treating patients—it is about caring for a community.
