Jerusalem, Israel - June 11, 2026 - The Tower of David Jerusalem Museum is currently hosting a special exhibition celebrating the life and career of Israeli cultural icon Yehoram Gaon, tracing more than seven decades of creativity in music, theater, film, and public life.

A guided tour of the exhibition takes visitors through two galleries chronicling Gaon's remarkable journey—from his childhood in Jerusalem's historic neighborhoods and his service in IDF entertainment troupes to his success on the stage and screen, his celebrated recordings, and his continuing artistic work today.

Born in Jerusalem in 1939, Gaon became one of Israel's most beloved entertainers. Often described as the soundtrack of a nation, his songs have accompanied generations of Israelis through moments of joy, remembrance, and national celebration.

On Tuesday evening, the exhibition came to life with a special concert at the Tower of David. Gaon attended the event, addressed the audience, and delighted attendees by joining the performers on stage for a song of his own.

The pleasant summer weather and a temporary easing of security concerns allowed hundreds of visitors to enjoy the evening beneath the stars in the museum's historic citadel courtyard.

The featured performer was Assaf Amdursky, one of Israel's leading contemporary musicians, who presented "I Am a Guitar," a moving tribute to the classic songs of the Gesher Hayarkon Trio. The influential 1960s group featured Arik Einstein, Yehoram Gaon, and Beni Amdursky, Assaf's father, and helped shape the sound of modern Israeli music.

Performing beneath the illuminated walls of Jerusalem's ancient fortress, Amdursky introduced both familiar favorites and timeless Israeli classics to an appreciative audience.

At the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum, many galleries are safe shelters; therefore, it has been able to host visitors despite the difficult security situation.
