Jerusalem, Israel - Apr. 17, 2026 - Tens of thousands of participants ran in the 15th International Jerusalem “Winner” Marathon, held on Friday morning under the theme “Am Yisrael Runs.”

The event proceeded without major incident but with a more subdued atmosphere than in previous years, less music and fewer celebrations.

Allame Haimro, 36, from Karnei Shomron, won the men’s half-marathon with a time of 1:07:31, while Bika Mintamer, 34, from Ramat Hasharon, took first place in the women’s race.

Runners from around the world—including the United States, China, Argentina, the Philippines, South Africa, and the Netherlands—joined Israelis at the starting line near the Knesset.

With 30 organizations hosting groups, the regulars, Shalva, ADI, Yachad, etc., were joined with more groups dedicated to fallen soldiers.

The weather turned difficult fr being outside with sand and heat, but the races started early and finished early.

There was no full marathon, but the other 5 shorter runs were held, and families came along with experienced runners.

The photo essay shares a bit of the successful event held under less-than-optimum conditions.
