Jerusalem, Israel - Dec. 1, 2025 - Rebekah Chaifetz Saltzman has authored a new book, published in time for Chanukkah, "Women Who Lit the Way: Eight Nights of Change." The slim 79-page, paperback (8.5 x 11 inches) was developed as a Chanukah companion and Jewish adult coloring book for the eight nights of Chanukah.
How many women, after lighting the Chanukah candles, sit and savor the light and use the time to reflect on the burning flames?
Each night in the book highlights a different woman from Jewish history, offering a story, a reflection prompt, and a full-page illustration for coloring. It provides potential for a simple nightly ritual to bring calm, intention, and meaning back into the holiday.
The book is more than a coloring experience. It is a simple tool for reflection and growth. The stories and prompts are to help women shift habits, reconnect with purpose, and tap into the strength that Jewish women have carried for generations. The author had wanted to do something featuring Jewish women. "Something inspirational and because I have an art background, I really love giving women the space to be creative," she shared with BJL.
Rebekah grew up in Silver Spring, MD, and made aliyah 14 years ago with her husband and children. Her business, BalagonBeGone, has grown from simple home organization decluttering to a multiple options online and by email, including paper purging and 'Tidy Together'.
This is her second ebook this year, and fifth on Amazon.
She believes a lot of women want to change their habits. Many systems are challenging to maintain, so she wanted to provide something simple where people could sit and think during a time that should and could be inspirational, with stories of 8 Jewish women, one for each night. To help them find their best selves, using colored pencils to calm and option prompts to think and improve their mood and lives. An interesting concept for the busy woman on Chanukah.
