Baltimore, MD - April 2, 2025 - In just over four years in office, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott now has his fourth chief of staff: Calvin Young, a longtime friend who took months to file a mandatory ethics form after joining the mayor’s office last fall, is being promoted from his advisor role — and is getting a significant raise.

Young had been required to fill out the online financial disclosure form within 30 days of being hired as a $140,000-a-year senior advisor to Scott on Sept. 3, 2024. Still a senior advisor today, Young will assume the chief of staff role April 9 and earn a $250,000 annual salary — a 79% increase from his current earnings and about $20,000 more than Marvin James, who currently holds the role.

“There is no one I trust more to lead that team than Calvin,” Scott said in a statement. “He will lead this office and this city with excellence, talent, and grit.”

Young ran for mayor in 2016 — with James as his campaign manager — but received less than 1% of the vote in the Democratic primary. His twin brother, Caylin Young, is a state delegate who represents Baltimore City and also works for Scott’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights.... Read More: FOX45
