The Israeli Defense Ministry and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) signed a multi-billion-shekel contract Wednesday to significantly increase the supply of Arrow-3 missile defense interceptors for the IDF.
The agreement, spearheaded by the Israel Missile Defense Organization (IMDO) within the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), will enhance Israel’s air defense capabilities. The Arrow-3, jointly developed with the U.S., counters long-range ballistic missile threats and demonstrated remarkable success during recent conflicts, including intercepting missiles from Iran and the Houthi militia in Yemen.
Key highlights include:
- The Arrow-3's historic operational interception in space during 2024 missile barrages.
- Strengthening Israel’s multi-layered missile defense strategy alongside David’s Sling and Iron Dome.
- Economic benefits, with billions directed toward the local economy and job creation.
IAI CEO Boaz Levy and Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized the technological and strategic importance of the system. “The Arrow-3 represents Israeli innovation and resilience,” Levy said, while Katz called the agreement a “strategic milestone.”
This contract ensures the IDF is well-prepared for emerging threats and reinforces Israel's technological independence and defense infrastructure.
