Toronto police are investigating a suspected hate-motivated crime after multiple mezuzos, were removed from the doorways of units in a Toronto Community Housing building in North York.
The thefts, reported Sunday, targeted a building in the Westminster neighbourhoods near Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West.
Mezuzahs, which are affixed to the doorposts of Jewish homes, serve as both a religious symbol and an expression of Jewish identity.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact number of mezuzahs taken, but local officials say approximately 15 to 20 were pried off.
York Centre Councillor James Pasternak condemned the act as “a hateful attack on Jewish residents, seniors who deserve safety, stability, and dignity in their own homes.” Speaking to CP24, he sai...

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar reportedly "laughed off" incoming New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's threat to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he "set foot in New York" in a Monday interview with The New York Post.
Sa'ar told The New York Post that the matter hadn't even been a "consideration when setting Netanyahu’s travel plans."
"I don’t want to enter into a legal debate with the elected mayor of New York,” The New York Post quoted Sa'ar as saying, “But I will only say or repeat what the prime minister had said himself, he will come to New York."
Despite Mamdani's outspoken criticism of Israel, The New York Post said that Sa'ar hoped for "constructive dia...

Baltimore, MD - Dec. 9, 2025 - A recent report from Maryland’s Commission of Juvenile Justice Reform recommended the state stop charging youths as adults for serious crimes, including murder and rape.
The report said the practice fails to protect communities and disproportionately affects children of color. The report recommends having all cases start in juvenile court.
Rich Gibson, Howard County state’s attorney, told C4 and Bryan Nehman on Tuesday that he supports change, but the state needs to do a better job of reforming youths.
“No one is eager to lock up children, but we do need to have accountability measures in place that keep the community safe,” Gibson said.
Charging juveniles as adults means many are held in adult detention centers while awa...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Monday that, effective immediately, Florida will be designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations.
“Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support,” said DeSantis.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott also recently designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations.
The designation authorizes heightened enforcement against both organizations and their affiliates and prohibits them from purchasing or acquiring land in Texas.

Researchers unearthed a significant section of a Maccabean-period city wall on the grounds of the Tower of David, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced on Monday.
Still less than half its original height, at over 40 meters long and about five meters high, the wall section is one of the longest and most intact walls of its type discovered in Jerusalem.
“The wall is meticulously built of large, heavy stones, with a chiseled boss typical of this period,” said Dr. Amit Re’im and Dr. Marion Zindel, Excavation Directors on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority. "Originally, the massive wall rose to a height of more than ten meters! But today, only a stump remains. During the Second Temple period, the Hasmonean city wall also surrounded Mount Zion, whe...

The Supreme Court seems likely to expand presidential control over independent federal agencies, signaling support for President Donald Trump’s firing of board members.
During arguments on Monday, the court’s conservative majority suggested it would overturn a 90-year-old decision that has limited when presidents can fire agencies’ board members, or leave it with only its shell intact.
Lawyers for the administration are defending Trump’s decision to fire Federal Trade Commission member Rebecca Slaughter without cause and calling on the court to jettison the unanimous 1935 decision known as Humphrey’s Executor.
The court’s six conservative justices already have signaled strong support for the administration&...

This week it was revealed that the Guinness World Records organization is boycotting Israel. The nonprofit Matnat Chaim (Gift of Life) contacted Guinness headquarters requesting to register a record of 2,000 kidney donors, and received a rejection due to the company’s policy toward Israel and the war.
One could certainly argue that this itself breaks a Guinness record … for hypocrisy! One could also marvel at the very achievement Israel sought to register, not the world’s heaviest man, not the person with the longest mustache, but a record of kindness and solidarity.
The rejection, which Israel’s Foreign Ministry is working to overturn, was received by Matnat Chaim just as they concluded a celebratory Shabbat. It turns out that since the war began, two things hap...
