Barbara Goldberg Goldman resigned as deputy treasurer of the Maryland Democratic Party Monday after an email surfaced in which she questioned whether Black candidates are capable of winning statewide elections.

The blowback to her comments was fierce and fellow Democrats quickly sought to distance themselves from her words.
