On Wednesday, former Baltimore City District Court judge and ex-first lady of Maryland Katie Curran O'Malley (D) announced run for Attorney General.

O'Malley, 59, is quite familiar with attorney generals in Maryland. Her father, J. Joseph Curran (D) was the longest-serving Attorney General in the state from 1987 to 2007.

Her husband, Martin O'Malley (D) served two terms as mayor of Baltimore from 1999-2007. He also served two terms as the governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015.

"I am running to be Maryland’s next Attorney General because I want to continue to help people here in Maryland, as I have for my entire career," O'Malley said in a statement.
