Jerusalem, Israel - Nov. 11, 2021 - With the past year of Corona isolations and disruptions, 'senior moments' seem more prevalent. Who has not heard people complain recently of having trouble recalling a name, word, or past event?

Everyone forgets at times, but as people age, they start to worry it could lead to something more serious. Although there are no magic pills for recall issues, Rena Yudkowsky, MSW, memory coach, has helpful techniques for those who have stopped and asked - "What did I come to the fridge for?

Yudkowsky presented her T-E-A-S memory tips in Modiin, Israel on Tuesday for the Israeli Women's Entrepreneurial Networking held in the new SpaceMod business complex.

1. Take one TASK at a time.

2. Build a conducive ENVIRONMENT.

3. Don't do things AUTOMATICALLY.

4. Use all your SENSES.

Use four senses and you have a 97% likelihood of remembering.

"While many people think losing memory or getting dementia is inevitable, it is not." according to Yudkowsky. "The good news is that the current research is showing there is a lot that you can do to prevent dementia, even if your parent or grandparent had it. Today, we understand that genetics play a very small role in this disease, only 10% of the cases are genetic. Lifestyle factors play a much larger role than we thought."

“The truth is, Alzheimer’s is a lifestyle disease—similar to heart disease or type 2 diabetes—and your everyday habits contribute greatly to your level of risk. New research confirms this,” states neuro-psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen.

Dr. Amen outlines 11 major risk factors of memory loss that can be controlled or treated through healthy lifestyle changes. Some of them include inflammation, obesity, diabetes, sleep issues, toxins, mental health problems, retirement, and immune system issues.

"There are steps to dig up old memories, four techniques for recall, what memory triggers to use, and the first thing to do when you can’t remember something," Yudkowsky tells BJL.

In addition, we can train our brain to work better for us by using it properly. The underlying principle is “Train the Brain, Don’t Strain the Brain.”
