Israeli fire chief offers to send 15 firefighters, 'large amount of fire retardant material'

Israel has offered assistance to its Mediterranean neighbor Greece in the country's efforts to contain massive wildfires raging across Southern Europe fueled by an intense heat wave and strong winds.

The Fire and Rescue Authority said in a statement on Thursday that Israeli fire chief Dedy Simhi spoke to his Greek counterpart and offered to send 15 firefighters and “a large amount of fire retardant material."

The fire service said that the Israeli firefighters could be deployed to Greece as soon as Friday and that firefighting planes may also be flown to Greece "later in the week."... Read More: i24
