Jerusalem - If she is reappointed justice minister, Ayelet Shaked said Sunday, she will seek to appoint the first haredi (ultra-Orthodox) judge to the Supreme Court.
“It is not logical that a whole section of society is not represented,” she said.
Speaking from Tel Aviv where she was attending a conference organized by We Women, Shaked said even though she moved from the overwhelmingly religious Bayit Yehudi Party to the mixed religious-secular New Right, she is still committed to improving a variety of issues for haredim.
Shaked said she maintains strong relations with the haredi population. She then credited party co-leader Naftali Bennett with helping the sector integrate into higher education by supporting the creation of new, gender-separate educational environments. Read more at JPost
