Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 26, 2018 - WeWork, the space, community, and services provider focused on helping people create their life’s work, is marking the holiday of Sukkot and the opening of its first Jerusalem location with the construction of its first ever Sukkah, located in Jerusalem’s historic First Train Station. The Sukkah is to be open to the public between September 20th-28th.

Sukkot is marked by the construction of a sukkah, although not typically equipped with WiFI and baristas. Leading up to opening the first WeWork location in Jerusalem on October 2nd, the WeWork’s Sukkah provides an “office away from the office,” including indoor and outdoor hot desks with free WiFi access, a lounge area and 2 conference rooms to host team meetings, allowing visitors to get a feel for a WeWork office. The Sukkah is staffed by WeWork employees, and offers free coffee and beer, with music in the evenings.

When it opens on October 2, WeWork’s Jerusalem location (WeWork King George) will be the ninth WeWork location in Israel, following five in Tel Aviv, one in Herzliya, one in Be’er Sheva and one in Haifa. Similar to the other locations in Israel, WeWork on King George, in the renovated old Mashbir building, will be overseen by a team of local managers, who will get to know the members, help manage the building and daily tasks, and organize events and programming that will encourage collaboration, address the health and wellness of our members, teach business skills and more.

“The way that people live and work has undergone a fundamental shift, one which emphasizes flexibility, energy, excitement, mobility and the search for meaning - a shift that WeWork has been at the forefront of bringing about,” said Benjy Singer, General Manager of WeWork Israel. “Much like WeWork does with bringing people together and giving them a space to build something meaningful and impactful, the construction of a Sukkah and its placement outside the home allows us to experience a very similar shift - one in which we open the walls of our temporary homes to any and every guest, allowing us to interact, learn from and collaborate with new and old friends alike, providing us with unique energy and excitement. We very much look forward to welcoming our friends from around the world to our WeWork Sukkah to share in this unique experience.”

WeWork currently has more than 287 physical locations in 77 cities and 23 countries around the world, providing more than 268,000 members with space, community, and services through both physical and virtual offerings. WeWork’s stated mission is to help create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living. WeWork was founded in New York City in 2010, by Israeli Adam Neumann and Miguel McKelvey.
