Jerusalem, Israel - Sept. 26, 2018 - President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday, the seventeenth of Tishrei, greeted Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman in the gardens of Beit Hanasi to preview the annual Sukkot Open House. The Open House event theme this year is celebrating health and the public is invited Thursday, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The President and the Deputy Minister were accompanied by Director of the President's Residence Harel Toby and the Ministry of Health's Moshe Bar Siman Tov. 

The President and Deputy Minister toured the various activities and exhibits scattered throughout the garden, prepared for the enjoyment of the many visitors who will arrive tomorrow at the Presidential Residence. During the tour the President said, "We are celebrating the joyous Sukkot holiday, marked by wholesome food and health." Many activities are aimed to engage children of various ages. One is a series of bicycles which when ridden run blenders to make cold fruit drinks.


The presidential sukkah was designed in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, highlighting the seven species of Eretz Yisrael on the walls. The President referred to the four species of Sukkot which symbolize the unity of the people saying, "We can do things much better if we are united. As the four species have different features, all of us have the ability to accept each other."

President Rivlin added, "Sukkot is also a harvest festival, and at this time in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, we invite all of you, all the people of Israel to come to the house of the President of Israel, as it is not only the President's, but also the people's house."
