Baltimore, MD – Dec. 26, 2023 – The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) is working to improve its customer service reputation, according to WMAR2News. They have significantly reduced average wait times, from 14 minutes in Fiscal Year 2021 to just 4 minutes in the first 5 months of Fiscal Year 2024. This reduction is partly due to the availability of online services, which increased after the deployment of an $80 million IT modernization project called Customer Connect in July 2020. Customers can now complete 60 different transactions online, such as renewing a driver's license, paying fees, and ordering new plates. The number of in-person customers has decreased by 20 percent. While 26 percent of Maryland drivers have created myMVA accounts for online services, some still prefer face-to-face interactions. Overall, the MVA is focused on improving customer service and reducing wait times.
