Israeli and US officials have made clear to Egypt and Qatar that there is a need to up the pressure on Hamas to agree to a deal as soon as possible," Al-Akhbar reported.
The Lebanese newspaper also reported that Israel made clear that it had no intention of being any more flexible with Hamas and the other terror organizations.
The officials hinted that a military operation in Rafah is expected to begin around the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which falls in the middle of April this year.
Egypt, according to the report, warned against an operation in Rafah and said that "the perceptions presented by Israel are especially dangerous and will lead to an additional escalation, not only in the Gaza Strip but a regional escalation."

Agudath Israel of America notes with sadness the passing of Joseph “Joe” Lieberman, former senator from Connecticut and vice-presidential nominee, at the age of 82.
Joe Lieberman, an Orthodox Jew himself, was a friend of Agudath Israel and the Orthodox Jewish community, participating in Agudath Israel events and championing the needs of the community.
Senator Lieberman, dubbed the “conscience of the Senate,” was a strong supporter of Israel, and worked to ensure its security both during and after his tenure as senator.
Senator Lieberman was also closely involved with Orthodox Jewish leaders, such as Rabbi Moshe Sherer, legendary president of Agudath Israel of America, and Rabbi Herman Neuberger, the venerable late president of Ner Israel Rabbinical College. The s...

BaltimoreJewishLife.com (BJL) is proud to partner with STAR-K CERTIFICATION that realizes that there is no substitute for a person’s own Rav. In an effort to offer a possible solution, it has launched its Institute of Halachah as a public service. Over the years, the agency’s Kashrus Hotline has answered generic halachic questions from kosher consumers the world over, including inquiries regarding the kosher status of foods and certified Sabbath mode appliances. The formation of a separate official division within STAR-K testifies to the need for addressing these issues.
The Institute of Halachah is directed by HaRav Mordechai Frankel, under the guidance of HaRav Moshe Heinemann, STAR-K’s Rabbinic Administrator. It is an invaluable resource for a diverse array of rabbis to discuss general halachic matters, as well as gain access to source materials for shiurim and answers to congregants’ questions.

The Orthodox Union is deeply saddened by the news that Senator Joseph Lieberman passed away today at the age of 82. Joe Lieberman was a member of our community who made history and was mekadesh shem shamayim while doing so. After a distinguished career as Attorney General of Connecticut and U.S. Senator, Joe Lieberman was the first Jewish American nominated to a national ticket as the Democratic Party’s nominee for Vice President in 2000. He was a leader on so many critical public policy issues: support for Israel, religious liberty, civil rights, school choice, environmental protection and more. Throughout his work on these issues and while ascending the heights of American politics, he also remained steadfast in his commitment to and observance of Orthodox Judaism.

During the Second Temple, the Greek empire reigned (over Israel),1 and they (the Greeks) passed decrees against the Jews and (tried) to erase their religion, and did not allow them to carry out Torah (study) or the commandments. They put their hands on their property and their daughters. They entered the Temple, destroyed and made the pure unclean. The Jews were in great distress because of them and were much oppressed, until the G-d of their fathers had mercy on them, delivering them from their hands and saving them. Then overcame, the sons of the Hasmonean High Priest, (the Greeks) and killed them and saved the Jews from their hands. They appointed a king from the Priests, and the kingdom of Israel was restored for more than 200 years until the destruction of (the) second (Temple). When the Jews overcame their enemies and destroyed them, it was the 25th of Kislev2 when they entered the Sanctuary (inner room) and did not find pure (olive) oil in the Temple, except one jar sealed with seal of the High Priest, and it did not contain enough to light except for one day only. But they lit from it the lamps of the Menorah3 for eight days, until they could crush olives and produce a (new quantity) of pure oil. For these reasons, decreed the Sages of that generation that these eight days that begin on the 25th Kislev, will be days of joy and praise. One lights on them lamps at evening at the entrance to the houses, every evening of the eight nights to show off and demonstrate the miracle. These days are called ''Hanukah'' that is to say ''they rested'' (chanu) on the ''25'' ('th of the month) because on the 25th they rested from their enemies. and also because of those days they (re)-dedicated the house (Temple) which their foes had defiled. Also some say that it is a commandment to increase slightly the festive meals on Hanukah. Another reason is because the work of (building) the Sanctuary (in the desert) was completed in these days. One should tell one's children the story of the miracles that were done for our fore-fathers in those days, (see Josephus) However, these meals are not considered as part of the commandment unless one says at the meal songs of praise. One should increase charity in these Hanukah days, for this can help mend any defects in our souls. This charity, should be given particularly to poor Torah scholars. (KSA 139:1) 1) 352 BCE until 70 CE 2) 139 BCE 3) The Menorah was made of gold and had seven branches.

US President Joe Biden responded on Tuesday to pro-Palestinian Arab protesters who interrupted his health care speech, saying that "they have a point", NBC News reported.
Two protesters were escorted out of the Raleigh, North Carolina, venue after they cut off the president mid-remarks, shouting, "What about the health care in Gaza?"
"Everybody deserves health care," Biden said as the protesters yelled that hospitals in Gaza were being bombed and alleged that Biden was "complicit in genocide." The President then asked the audience to "be patient with them."
"They have a point," Biden said after the protesters were escorted out, adding, "We need to get a lot more care into Gaza."
Biden has faced numerous anti-war protests during his events in the months since the Israel-Hamas ...
Baltimore, MD - Mar. 27, 2024 - MDTA officers were able to stop traffic. But why were eight workers still on the bridge when it collapsed?
Maryland Transportation Authority Police officers managed to stop traffic crossing Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge with less than a minute to spare before the 47-year-old structure came crashing down — felled by the cargo ship Dali in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Gov. Wes Moore has declared the officers with the Maryland Transportation Authority Police “heroes” for their quick action in the minutes after the Dali’s apparent mechanical failure, crediting them with saving the lives of people who would have driven onto the bridge.
Still, a crew of at least eight Latin American construction w...

The MLB owners voted unanimously to approve the sale on Wednesday, finalizing the deal that started back in January worth a reported $1.725 billion. The team was sold by the Angelos family, who just lost former Orioles owner Peter Angelos last Saturday at the age of 94.
The new ownership group led by Rubenstein includes many names familiar with Baltimore such as Orioles Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke, and basketball Hall of Famer Grant Hill. Rubenstein, who grew up in Northwest Baltimore and graduated from Baltimore City College, is Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of The Carlyle Group, a philanthropist, ...
Khaled Mashal, the leader of Hamas abroad, says that the organization "will only release prisoners (hostages) when we achieve our goals and we aggressively lead the negotiation process in a proper diplomatic maneuver."
In an address at an event in Jordan, Mashal stated that "in the negotiations, we insist on the end of the aggression, a withdrawal from Gaza, the return of displaced civilians to the northern Gaza Strip, the distribution of humanitarian aid, shelter, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and the end of the siege."
He noted that the fighting forces are in good condition despite the difficult fighting and continue to fight the IDF while at the same time escalating attacks in Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria.

It’s post-Purim. I’m tired. We all are. There’s a war. There are soldiers—so many young ones being so brave for our people. There are our precious hostages we are desperately waiting for. Life right now is incongruous, and yet we try to live our lives as best and as normally as we can, including teaching preschool. I am a preschool morah, which means I make yom tov twice, once in my classroom and then at home, and yes, in that order.
This morning, when I slowly pulled up to school, talking to my mom on our regular AM call, she informed me of the bridge collapse that happened earlier on. I had no idea as I was in a rush to get to work and did not check the news. With barely a minute to breathe after Purim and all that prep, we’re onto the next big project in p...
Workers recovered a truck from the site of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in the Patapsco River, but at least one vehicle remains hanging from metal debris, according to the Associated Press.
The outlet cited a law enforcement official who had knowledge of a Homeland Security memo detailing the recovery.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on Wednesday praised divers who have spent hours in frigid water.
“They are down there in darkness where they can literally see about a foot in front of them,” he said. “They are trying to navigate mangled metal and they’re also in a place it is now presumed that people have lost their lives, so the work of these first responders, the work of these divers, I cannot stress enough how remarkable these individuals are.&rdqu...

Renowned U.S. attorney and Harvard Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz told i24NEWS on Tuesday, speaking on the state of relations between Israel and the United States during the war against Hamas in Gaza.
“Situation with the United States is actually much worse than its been projected on Israeli TV and others,” Dershowitz began. “For the first time since 1948, Israel is no longer a bipartisan issue.”
“It’s become an issue of a partisan nature,” the close confidante of presidents and prime ministers said.
“Many leaders in the Democratic party, starting with the Vice President [Kamala Harris] and down to the Majority leader of the Senate [Chuck Schumer], and other senators and the Squad have turned the Democrats against Israe...
