The Jewish community of Atlanta, Georgia has a message for Floridians evacuating their homes ahead of Hurricane Irma – WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!

As forecasts for Hurricane Irma began to show increasing risk for residents of South Florida, concerned members of the Toco Hills community in Atlanta realized that the evacuees would need help.

Just 24 hours ago, messages began circulating on social media urging anyone who needed a place to stay for Shabbos to fill out an online form, which put them in contact with the Toco Hills community.

By Thursday afternoon, more than 1000 people had reached out and were successfully matched up with a family who would be hosting them in their own homes!

The evacuees hail from Miami, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and beyond.

Congregation Beth Israel and the Young Israel of Toco Hills are hosting meals for the displaced Floridians. They will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner beginning tonight (Thursday) through at least Sunday, as well as Shabbos meals – Shabbos day Kiddush is included!

Please see the sign attached below, which has all meal times.

The Toco Hills community is expecting many more people to need their assistance, and will do everything they can to accommodate them.

Please contact the community as soon as possible, via the phone numbers on the attached sign.
