US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on Sunday urged Israel to increase efforts in allowing humanitarian aid into northern Gaza.
Her call followed claims from the UN's World Food Program (WFP) that no aid has reached that region of the Strip for nearly two weeks.
“The UN reports that no food has entered northern Gaza in nearly two weeks. Israel must urgently do more to facilitate the flow of aid to those in need. Civilians must be protected and must have access to food, water, and medicine. International humanitarian law must be respected,” Harris wrote in a post on X.
On Friday, WFP told CNN that no food has entered northern Gaza since the start of October, putting one million people at risk of going hungry.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), a member of the so-called Squad of anti-Israel lawmakers in Congress, again criticized Israel on Sunday over its counterterrorism operations in Gaza and called on the US to stop providing it with aid.
“Genocidal maniac Netanyahu is burning Palestinians alive, bombing hospitals, starving people, and killing aid workers,” Tlaib wrote in a post on X.
“When will our country stop funding this madness? When?” she added.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, responded to Tlaib and wrote, “The only ones who burned children alive were your buddies over at Hamas.”
Tlaib, whose parents are Palestinian Arab, has continued her anti–Israel statements and actions during the war against Hamas in Gaza.

BaltimoreJewishLife.com (BJL) is proud to partner with STAR-K CERTIFICATION that realizes that there is no substitute for a person’s own Rav. In an effort to offer a possible solution, it has launched its Institute of Halachah as a public service. Over the years, the agency’s Kashrus Hotline has answered generic halachic questions from kosher consumers the world over, including inquiries regarding the kosher status of foods and certified Sabbath mode appliances. The formation of a separate official division within STAR-K testifies to the need for addressing these issues.
The Institute of Halachah is directed by HaRav Mordechai Frankel, under the guidance of HaRav Moshe Heinemann, STAR-K’s Rabbinic Administrator. It is an invaluable resource for a diverse array of rabbis to discuss general halachic matters, as well as gain access to source materials for shiurim and answers to congregants’ questions.

Four IDF soldiers were killed and seven were severely injured in the incident in which a UAV exploded in Binyamina, it was cleared for publication overnight Sunday.
The UAV, which was launched by the Hezbollah terrorist organization, directly hit the dining room at the Golani divisional training base, while dozens of recent recruits were inside eating dinner.
In all, 51 soldiers were injured in the incident, including nine in moderate condition. The rest are in light condition. All the injured individuals have been evacuated to hospitals and their families have been notified.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said, “The incident is being examined. The IDF shares in the grief of the bereaved families and will continue to accompany them.”
Magen David Adom said on Sunday ...
During the Second Temple, the Greek empire reigned (over Israel),1 and they (the Greeks) passed decrees against the Jews and (tried) to erase their religion, and did not allow them to carry out Torah (study) or the commandments. They put their hands on their property and their daughters. They entered the Temple, destroyed and made the pure unclean. The Jews were in great distress because of them and were much oppressed, until the G-d of their fathers had mercy on them, delivering them from their hands and saving them. Then overcame, the sons of the Hasmonean High Priest, (the Greeks) and killed them and saved the Jews from their hands. They appointed a king from the Priests, and the kingdom of Israel was restored for more than 200 years until the destruction of (the) second (Temple). When the Jews overcame their enemies and destroyed them, it was the 25th of Kislev2 when they entered the Sanctuary (inner room) and did not find pure (olive) oil in the Temple, except one jar sealed with seal of the High Priest, and it did not contain enough to light except for one day only. But they lit from it the lamps of the Menorah3 for eight days, until they could crush olives and produce a (new quantity) of pure oil. For these reasons, decreed the Sages of that generation that these eight days that begin on the 25th Kislev, will be days of joy and praise. One lights on them lamps at evening at the entrance to the houses, every evening of the eight nights to show off and demonstrate the miracle. These days are called ''Hanukah'' that is to say ''they rested'' (chanu) on the ''25'' ('th of the month) because on the 25th they rested from their enemies. and also because of those days they (re)-dedicated the house (Temple) which their foes had defiled. Also some say that it is a commandment to increase slightly the festive meals on Hanukah. Another reason is because the work of (building) the Sanctuary (in the desert) was completed in these days. One should tell one's children the story of the miracles that were done for our fore-fathers in those days, (see Josephus) However, these meals are not considered as part of the commandment unless one says at the meal songs of praise. One should increase charity in these Hanukah days, for this can help mend any defects in our souls. This charity, should be given particularly to poor Torah scholars. (KSA 139:1) 1) 352 BCE until 70 CE 2) 139 BCE 3) The Menorah was made of gold and had seven branches.

A California sheriff said Saturday authorities thwarted a third assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump when police prevented an armed man with phony credentials from entering the Republican candidate’s rally in the Coachella Valley.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said authorities stopped Vem Miller at a checkpoint outside the rally after police noticed he had fake media and VIP passes on him, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
Sheriff Bianco said Mr. Miller was also found to be carrying a pistol, a loaded shotgun and a high-capacity magazine.
We probably stopped another assassination attempt,” the sheriff said.
Mr. Miller was taken into custody at the scene on illegal weapons charges, police said.
Jail records show Mr. Miller posted a $...
In this tumultuous presidential election campaign season, there has been no shortage of entertaining memes. One video clip shows one of the candidates repeating the exact same line over and over again in various different speeches. In numerous different settings, this candidate is seen claiming to “see what can be, unburdened by what has been.” While it is certainly a laughable string of clips, there might actually be a valuable message behind this catchphrase, extremely pertinent to Yom Kippur and the ideas of teshuvah.
This point is best brought out with a beautiful thought I heard from R’ Tzvi Mordechai Feldheim in the name of R’ Shimon Schwab, zt”l. Each and every night, in the hashkiveinu prayer we recite during maariv, we beseech HaShem to “remove the satan from in front of us and behind us.” The satan in front of us is simple enough to understand. This is the force that stands between us and becoming closer to HaShem. It is ever-present, drawing us toward sin and preventing us from performing mitzvos. But what is the nature of the satan behind us?
Rav Schwab explains that the satan behind us is the cynical voice that emerges when we try to make significant change. It is particularly active during this time of year. When we make up our minds to do teshuvah, the satan behind us says “yeah, that’s what you said last year, and the year before.” It has you believing that things must stay the same because that’s the way they have always been. (Perhaps we should name him Newton.) We ask HaShem nightly for assistance in combating this force that pulls us down and burdens us by what has been.
