A shallow 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook Indonesia's main island Java

The number of people killed in an earthquake in Indonesia's main island of Java on Monday rose to 162, West Java governor Ridwan Kamil said.

The governor of the worst-hit province had initially reported 56 deaths and more than 700 injured.

"Data from the district head team - 56 people died and more than 700 injured. Because there are still a lot of people trapped on the scene, we assume injuries and fatalities will increase over time," Kamil told a news conference broadcast by Kompas TV.... Read More: i24
